Marie has 25 years of experience guiding amazing students, professionals, and clients from one life/career stage to another, as well as into different life roles, while promoting their success and self-satisfaction. Her mission and commitment is to empower adults who are willing to learn, grow, and work to be the best that they can be and to enjoy it! This mission has guided her life and much of her work.
Her path toward career and life coaching and as a transition expert started early.
She has been fascinated by people’s stories and life journeys since she was a child. A member of a large extended family, she was mesmerized by people as they talked about why and how they got to where they currently were, the challenges they faced, the parts of their journeys that were easy, the chance events that ended up playing a key role in their growth, the people who influenced them, the books that flamed a passion or the beginning of a vision.
Because of other interests and skills, she completed college with a mathematics major, pursued electrical engineering, worked as a design engineer, then decided to raise a family. During this process, it dawned on her that the growth of people was a lot more interesting and fun than the development of electronic circuits and other hardware. So she pursued a career in counseling as an elementary professional school counselor and then spent twenty years as assistant, then associate professor of counselor education.
When she completed her time as an academician, she realized that she wanted to continue to facilitate people’s self-creation during life and career transitions in a holistic, supportive and caring way.
Her passion has never wavered. What energizes her about this work is knowing that she is journeying with people who are hungry to co-create their “best” self.
What sets her apart from other life and career transition coaches is her unique, even unusual career and life experiences and the fact that she strongly believes that transitions are opportunities for tremendous growth and for creating and authoring a new you. She herself has gone through many different transitions.
These benefits await when you decide to invite her to serve you in the powerful ways that she knows can support your successful transition.
You can feel confident engaging Marie Shoffner Creager to guide you through your transition, whether it be toward finding your life’s work, becoming a successful professional, changing jobs or careers, or transitioning into retirement and beyond.
